Beloved Drama Professor Saundra Bouchie, a former movie production assistant and independent filmmaker, brings her passion for the arts to Pikes Peak Community College.
Bouchie currently teaches several drama classes: Acting I and II, Voice and Articulation, Play writing, Dialects, Intro to Film Art and Theatre Appreciation.
Bouchie says she became an acting teacher because she caught the theater bug at an early age.
Professor Bouchie received a BA in theater and won the Mark Medoff Scholarship for Excellence in Theater from New Mexico State University (NMSU).
Afterward, she attended Temple University for her MFA in acting.
She has acted as Irina in Three Sisters by Anton Chekov and was Olivia in a production of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.
Recently, Bouchie performed as the main character in a PPCC production of a short audio play titled Nervous, about a woman who is stalked by a monster in Central Park, New York City.
Bouchie has worked in all aspects of theater, from handling lighting, sets, costumes, and props, to directing.
Some of Bouchie’s directing credits include Romeo and Juliet, Private Lives, Arcadia and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Bouchie always gravitates back to the stage.
“I enjoyed time in Los Angeles getting to know the ins and outs of the film business, but I missed the theater,” she says.
Now, as a theater arts educator, Bouchie gets to do what she loves, and her students benefit greatly from what she has learned and experienced.
