PPCC’s Phi Beta Lambda Advances to Nationals

Last weekend students from Pikes Peak Community College’s Phi Beta Lambda Chapter scored big at the State Leadership Conference.

The conference which was held at the Community College of Aurora welcomed chapters from across the State of Colorado to compete in numerous events that involved objective tests and live action role play.

The conference and competitions were held over the course of two days.

PPCC students cleared house with every student advancing to compete at the National Leadership Conference.

“I feel pretty good,” said student Shawn Ringler, “I’ve never made it to Nationals before and I’m looking forward to the new experience.”

While attending the conference, students had the opportunity to listen to a powerful keynote and participate in a series of Business focused TED Talks.

Department Chair of Accounting & Finance, Melissa Allen, won Advisor of the Year for her contributions to fostering a relationship between Colorado Springs Future Business Leaders of America high school chapters and Pikes Peak Community College’s PBL Chapter.

“I’m shocked and thrilled that I received the award, but it is a real honor,” said Allen. “I would like each semester to have some type of event that connects those high school chapters with our chapter, so that they are aware that they can continue to be a part of the organization in college”.

PPCC’s PBL President, Angela Mueller, won the office of State President for 2018-2019.

“I’m excited about what we will do and how PBL will grow,” said Mueller.

Students will compete against other State qualifiers at National Leadership Conference in Baltimore, Maryland this June.
