Want to finally quit smoking? Need some help? Join PPSC Student Life on Thursday, Nov. 17 from noon to 1pm at the Centennial Grove & Rampart Student Lounge to find your path to Breathin’ Better.

The date of this event is strategically planned on the day before the Great American Smokeout, an annual event that supports people who smoke/use nicotine to make a plan to quit. Get your free quit kits so that you can be ready on the 18th to finally take the big step and toss those various sources of nicotine in the trash for good.

The Annual Great American Smokeout events have raised awareness for the health risks of using nicotine since 1976 when “the California division of the American Cancer Society got nearly 1 million people who smoke to quit for the day,” (American Cancer Society). Since that time, there have been significant changes in the way the public views smoking, with much of public space being non-smoking areas. Nicotine cessation can be really hard to achieve, Student Life wants to support those who want to try. Offering free quit kits can provide a real starting point and provide places you can find other support in the journey. These tools have been shown to be more effective than trying on your own and “cold turkey” so come to either of these two locations on the 17th from 12pm-1pm to take the first step.
