The Latino Alliance is a collective of faculty, staff, and students who gather to support and enrich our school’s Hispanic/Latino cultures. Any and all are welcome to join. The next meeting is Friday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m. on Zoom.
Latino Alliance Vision: PPCC fully embraces the responsibility of being Hispanic-serving—not merely Hispanic-dwelling—institution through holistic approaches to better welcome and serve this group.
Latino Alliance Mission: Strategically plan and intentionally facilitate environments and relationships that serve Hispanic students at PPCC. We will serve this group throughout their time at PPCC, supporting them in pursuit of their academic and professional goals, in environments and relationships that promote a positive, long-term experience for the Hispanic students at PPCC
1.) Increase visibility on campuses and in the community (Latino Connections, Student Presentation at CSURF APRIL 9, Latino Art event March 16)
Promote visibility of Hispanic culture, successes, and opportunities to students, staff, and faculty on campuses and in the community, recognizing and embracing the heterogeneity of this community, its histories, strengths, unique contributions, unique cultures, identify potential for growth.
2.) Develop credible partnerships (Hispanic Chamber/Education Foundation Workforce Summit)
3.) Communicate with the college (Meet regularly and coordinate efforts. Create a website space for Latino students. Reach out to Hispanic-identifying students.)
4.) Support Hispanic students financially and academically (Open scholarship with Advantage Coaching; Learning Commons partnership)
5.) Advise HSI Task Force (Review data, participate in focus group, give input on recommendations.)
