On Saturday March 10, the American Advertising Federation (ADDYs) held their annual awards ceremony to celebrate the best of local advertising.

Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) Multimedia Graphic Design (MGD) and Professional Photography students nearly swept the ADDY Awards, taking home all but one.

Winners connected with PPCC also include Matt Radcliffe, PPCC’s own Digital Strategist, who won a Silver ADDY for his work with Springs Ensemble Theater (SET), PPCC graphic designer Noel Dolan who won a Silver for her work on the holiday business card, and Tiffany Schmid, owner and designer at Schmid Studio, whose work for The Quad garnered two Silvers.

PPCC marketing department won a Gold Award and Best in Print in the Professional category with two of its team earning awards for their work.

“While I’m thrilled that I won an award, I am infinitely more excited that PPCC students earned 22 ADDYs with 12 gold awards in a variety of areas including digital, print, and photography,” said Radcliffe, a PPCC alumni who helped start our AAF chapter when he was here as an MGD student.

Dwan Petti, a Professional Photography major, took home three Gold Awards and two Silver.

“My daughter is a cello maker and I photographed her cello and its owner for an integrated campaign. The Gold I won for that was the most meaningful to me,” Petti said.

Scott Hunt, a recent MGD graduate, won two Silver awards.

“It is a great feeling to win an ADDY. It really validates the hard work we have all done in school. The number of students who were there to receive ADDYs also shows the level of commitment and quality of education we receive from our instructors. For me, the greatest reward of the night was being able to share that moment with family, friends and colleagues,” Hunt said.

Local Award winners will advance to the next level according to Clint Hager, Co-Chair of Education and Communication.

“All the students that won the Gold in Colorado Springs competition will go on the on to Regionals where they will compete against colleges all over Colorado (and other states). If they win a Gold in Regional, they will go on to the national competition,” Hager said.
