As summer officially comes to an end, so does outdoor concert season. It was fun, Red Rocks. See you next summer, Fiddlers Green.
But we still crave live music. We need music in our lives to wind down from the school week, to blow off steam, to sing along and connect with our friends. Thankfully, the music scene at local venues has much to offer in October.
The Black Sheep (2106 E. Platte Ave)
The Black Sheep has a small capacity, fewer than 500 people, and makes for an intimate setting to watch your favorite artists or discover new ones. There is no seating in this venue, which means no matter where you stand, you are close to the stage. If you have been here before, you know that the sound quality is good, and the stage isn’t difficult to see. Most nights you will see a line outside the door with fans waiting to get in.
According to their website, The Black Sheep has been voted “Best Live Music Venue” in Colorado Springs for the last 17 years. And, there is something for everyone on the schedule for October – make a point to check out one of these artists.
10/6 – Emo Night Tour
10/7 – The Chats, Cosmic Psychos, The Schizophonics, Gymshorts
10/13 – The Taylor Party: Taylor Swift Night
10/20 – Big Bubble Rave
10/24 – Youth Fountain
10/26 – Long Beach Dub Allstars & Passafire

Vultures (2100 E. Platte Ave.)
Vultures is another intimate music venue that also serves food. Listeners can share a seat, an appetizer, and live music. The October calendar is up and includes music from David Rosales on Oct. 12, Sunfish and Social Cinema on Oct. 16, and Sad Park and Nautiloid on Oct. 22. There is a Halloween bash on Oct. 25, featuring Series Break and Civil Disobedience.

Sunshine Studios (3970 Clear View Frontage Road)
Sunshine Studios is a small venue with an indoor capacity of 400, mostly general admission-sold tickets. This indoor/outdoor venue hosts multiple types of events.
The space can be rented for stage rehearsals, video production, recording, and wedding receptions, in addition to concerts.
Drowning Pool with Saliva stops by on Oct. 6, and Creed Fisher and his ‘This Ain’t the Hamptons’ tour on Oct. 7. Genitorturers close out the concert schedule on Sunday Oct. 29. For those Halloween diehards out there, a costume party is on the schedule for Oct. 28.
