The Colorado Springs Undergraduate Research Forum (CSURF) will bring together student researchers from across the Pikes Peak Region on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Colorado College. This free event offers an opportunity for the community to engage with innovative undergraduate research projects.

Over 150 student presenters from UCCS, USAFA, Pikes Peak State College, and Colorado College will share their work through poster displays and oral presentations. The event continues a tradition of academic collaboration that began in 2003 when UCCS first facilitated this cross-institutional showcase.

“Sharing research with others is an important part of the scholarly process,” says Professor Emily Forand. “Public examination provides students with the opportunity to refine and expand their learning beyond traditional assignments.”

Dr. Murphy Brasuel, Colorado College Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry, will deliver the keynote address titled “Research: A VW Microbus Mediated Journey into Inner Space, Art Authentication, Spicy Food, and the Chemical Genius of Plants.”

PPSC Representation

Pikes Peak State College will be represented by English major JD Ford, who will present “Arts’ Rising Phoenix” from 11:30am-12:50pm. Ford’s 15-minute presentation will be followed by a five-minute Q&A session. PPSC students and employees are especially encouraged to attend and support Ford, who is the college’s sole representative in the oral presentation category.

“Opportunities to demonstrate knowledge to the public can increase a student’s academic skillset,” says Forand. “Attendees will come away rejuvenated about the new ideas our students are examining.”

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Glenn Rohlfing at glenn.rohlfing@pikespeak.edu.
