The Student Government Association (SGA) could make a comeback this year with a renewed focus on student leadership and advocacy. Student Experience is reimagining SGA’s identity to better serve as the official student voice on campus.
“We are excited for the opportunity to strengthen the leadership development for these positions and how SGA can better serve our students,” said Andrea Hernández, Director of Student Experience. She added that the school is exploring solutions to restructure the SGA to maximize engagement with the student body and ensure its continued success. One such solution will be to hire a third party to consult on the endeavor.
While an official election date has not yet been set, SGA leaders are working to determine the best time for students to cast their votes. Students interested in shaping campus life are encouraged to get involved. “Any student who is open minded and wanting to be a leader on campus is highly encouraged to apply for SGA,” said Andrea. “Experience is always helpful in these types of positions, but we are also really open to working with students who want to explore a leadership opportunity. These are part-time, paid positions, and we want to make sure we are building leaders and
advocates for future generations.”
