Pikes Peak Community College has real talent and it showed this weekend at the Phi Beta Lambda Business and Computer Club State Leadership Conference at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado.
PPCCs Phi Beta chapter dominated by bringing home a total of 44 awards.
A portion of these wins came from Deja Harris who came in second place for Contemporary Sports Issues where she was the only female to compete in this event, third place in Entrepreneurship Concepts, and third place in Public Speaking.
The Phi Beta club at PPCC provides valuable lessons on interviewing, resume, business etiquette, dressing for success, and more.
According to Harris, the Phi Beta chapter is not only a place to compete and compare your knowledge and skills with other college students, it is also a place to collaborate, network and make long-lasting friendships.
“I actually worked with some of the students I was competing with for my public speaking,” Harris said.
In order to win each student had to compete in an event, like Public Speaking, Accounting and Finance, Computer Concepts, Marketing, Management, Cyber Security, Contemporary Sports issues, Job Interview, and economics. There were more events to ensure that all business and computer fields were included at the conference.
In total, sixteen PPCC students won 1st place awards. Fifteen 2nd place awards and thirteen took 3rd place awards.
It’s not over for the talented group of PPCC students, since the national competitions are being held in San Antonio this summer, and PPCC qualified to compete.
Every single student at the event qualified to represent Colorado FBLA-PBL at the national competitions
